Pawn Power now has a License Scanner/Reader for the Pawn Power Software Program.
As of right now the program works in Florida only. We are testing out other states to see if their license can be read with the new license reader. If you are in anlther state and want to see if we have the License Reader Software that will work with your state, give us a call at 305-895-2627.
Below is the specs for the License Scanner/Reader. We have tried out other readers and this one is the only we recommend at the moment. The other readers didn’t work or had to be individually programmed. We purchased this from www.Amazon.com

The most important part of maintaining your inventory is indexing regularly. We highly recommend you do this daily! At the very least, once a week.
When you do an inventory index, your program indexes your entire data base (puts it into alphanumerical order). Therefore, indexing on a regular basis will decrease your chances of getting cross-linked files and keep your system running at peak speed and efficiency. Customer names are also indexed and new entries are then included in their alphabetical position when you use the pop-up windows rather that at the end of the window.
If you are on a network, automatic inventory index/pulls should always be done on the main computer (the data server), with all other terminals (workstations) at the Main Menu, completely out of the program, or (better yet) completely off. The index should be allowed to completely finish WITHOUT INTERRUPTION!!!
I’m writing my first blog on Backing up Pawn Power. The reason I’m writing this first, is that, most of the time that we spend in Tech Support is for people who did not do their backup correctly.
Power Software recommends VERY STRONGLY, That you BACKUP your Pawnshop Folder every day and have at least two memory sticks (Also known as Jump Drives or, Thumb Drives) or SD Memory Cards that you can alternate every other day. (The recommendation is preferably 6 memory sticks or SD Cards for Monday thru Saturday. One for every day of the week.) We also recommend that you make a backup at the end of the month and take that backup home. This way you have one Backup off premises.
HOW TO DO A BACKUP CORRECTLY
Exit Pawn Power on all Computers. Go to the ‘Server‘ computer, Click ‘Start‘ and double click on ‘My Computer‘ to open it. Double click on the ‘C:\>‘ drive to open it. Scroll down to the ‘Pawnshop Folder‘. Right click on the ‘Pawnshop folder‘, in the little box that opens, scroll down to the ‘Send To‘, option and send the entire folder to the Memory Stick (It will say removable Disk, so CHECK carefully to make sure it is the correct drive.) You can also use an SD Card.
Once you have backed up the file to the Device, put it away (in the safe) and get the device out that you will be using tomorrow.
REMEMBER, THIS IS YOUR BUSINESS. DO NOT GET COMPLACEMENT ABOUT DOING YOUR BACKUP. THE MOST TIME WE SPEND WITH TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS WITH PEOPLE WHO LOSE THEIR COMPUTER AND DON’T HAVE A RECENT BACKUP. THEY HAVE TO GO BACK TO THEIR MOST RECENT BACKUP AND INPUT THE DATA TO CATCH IT BACK UP AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING.
